We had the great pleasure of visiting this wonderful place in January of 2019, along with Gabriele, who had introduced us. It was, in fact, their Collare Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon that sparked the dream one night at Chiesa di Ignano back in July 2018, though as we have explored their full range, we’ve learnt that it was only the tip of the iceberg. Known locally as the “women’s cellar”, it was the mother of Chiara Azzali, the present owner, who planted the vines and many of them regional varieties.
As we were shown around the vines, they told us how important it was to them to not only maintain but keep improving those grape varieties that were particular to the region, to keep celebrating what the soil was so well suited to. Click here find out more about our visit.
